AFC Wimbledon are beginning to establish themselves as a fixture of the English third tier, entering their second season in the division after a meteoric rise up the football pyramid following their formation in 2002.

Manager Neal Ardley’s side impressed in the league last year and recorded a comfortable mid table finish, and the boss will look to bolster his squad this summer as he looks to progress beyond the 15th place finish they recorded last time out.

Ardley has been with the club since 2012, and has guided the club to multiple promotions during his tenure, and will fancy another addition to his impressive managerial resume this season.

Ardley has moved well thus far in the window, and one many in particular stands out above the rest.

31-year-old striker Cody McDonald has joined the Dons following an impressive spell with Gillingham in which he notched 48 goals in 153 appearances.

12 goals and four assists last semester was enough to convince Ardley to add him to the cause, and McDonald will surely continue his impressive goalscoring form in south west London.

McDonald joins Adedeji Oshilaja, George Long and Kwesi Appiah at Kingsmeadow, and Ardley will add further men to his squad before the season kicks off next month.

With McDonald leading the line and the fellow new recruits set to challenge for first team spots over the course of pre season, AFC Wimbledon should do just fine next season.
