Former Arsenal goalkeeper James Shea is a transfer target for Sky Bet League Two side AFC Wimbledon following the departure of Seb Brown according to the Fulham Chronicle.

The 22-year old goalkeeper was released by Arsene Wenger's side last summer and has since been playing for Harrow Borough in the Ryman Premier League.

Wimbledon are now looking for a goalkeeper to challenge current first choice Ross Warner following the decision to release second choice keeper Seb Brown.

The scouting team at Wimbledon have pinpointed the former Arsenal starlet as a possible signing who has the ability to start in League Two every week. Former Dons manager Dave Anderson has also admitted to the current Wimbledon manager, Neal Ardley, that Shea is too good a goalkeeper for the Ryman League.

James Shea has had previous League Two experience having had a loan stint at Dagenham & Redbridge in the 2011/12 season which was followed up by a loan at Southampton but that was cut short due to his parent club recalling the player from his loan as cover for the first team.

Shea has taken the Ryman League by storm and won numerous rewards and accolades during the club's end of season rewards ceremony having won the following - Players’ Player of the Year, Supporters’ Player of the Year and the Geoff Fitzpatrick Memorial Sword (given to the winner of the Vice-President’s top player of the season).

When asked where his future lied, Shea told reporters, “I’m still a baby in goalkeeping terms, but I want to get back into league football as quickly as I can and Dave (Anderson) is not the sort of manager to stop me doing that if I’m good enough to achieve it. Hopefully teams have been watching me and will take a chance on me. I just need a chance.”
