According to a report by Get West London, AFC Wimbledon midfielder Jake Reeves has wished relegation upon bitter rivals and weekend opponents Milton Keynes.
Speaking ahead of the crunch match this Saturday, the 23-year-old said: “If you look at how the clubs have progressed on and off the field since, we would like to think we have done it the right way and are going in the right direction where hopefully they are going in the other direction”.
Expecting a hostile atmosphere at stadium:mk this weekend, Reeves is relishing this clash after missing out in the FA Cup when these sides met for the first time ever.
The central midfielder was on loan from Brentford at that point but was not allowed to play in the cup, which is something he regrets.
The old Wimbledon FC were deracinated from their home in South West London and moved to Milton Keynes to rebrand as “Milton Keynes Dons”.
AFC Wimbledon was formed out of protest from this move and they have enjoyed a meteoric rise from the very bottom of the non-league pyramid to overtake Milton Keynes in the league.
This weekend will be the first game for MK’s new manager, Robbie Neilson, with his struggling side hosting high-flying Wimbledon.
