The former Bristol City striker is a Cherries academy product and left them in 2010 for Bristol City, before returning to the Goldsands in 2012 on loan before sealing a permanent move in 2013, scoring 105 goals in total.

Pitman moved to Ipswich Town last week as part of a deal to bring left back Tyrone Mings to the coast, along with Ryan Fraser moving to Portman Road on a season long loan spell.

After leaving Bournemouth, who have just been promoted to the Premier League, the 27-year-old will not have played in all four divisions for the Cherries.

He told AFC Bournemouth's official website: "Three promotions is a feat that I`m proud of, I would have loved to have played in the Premier League in order to have played in all four divisions, but you can`t let little milestones affect your decisions.

"I`m sad to go but I will always look out for the club`s results and class it as my home..."

'...There was no pressure on me to go or stay, but he (Howe) explained it would be difficult for me to get a lot of game time.

"Ultimately, I want to play and that`s what swayed my decision."

Ipswich are making additions to their squad this summer to mount another play-off push as they did last year, where they unfortunately lost out to arch rivals Norwich City, who ended up winning the competition.
