AFC Bournemouth cemented their place in the Sky Bet Championship automatic promotion places this evening after they secured three points over Chris Hughton's Nottingham Forest with a 2-0 victory.

A brace from Junior Stanislas condemned Forest to consecutive league defeats meaning they continue to languish in the lower echelons of the second tier in 20th spot.

The Cherries picked up where they left off from their second half comeback victory over Reading on Saturday, and after just three minutes of the first-half, the home side went 1-0 up.

David Brooks showed Premier League vision with a peach of pass to pick out Junior Stanislas, who made a fantastic run to evade the Forest backline and slot it cooly past Brice Samba.

Jason Tindall's side continued to assert their authority as the first-half continued, and they could have gone 2-0 up after the effervescent Arnaut Danjuma dazzled down the left-flank, selling Reds right-back Cyrus Christie, though his shot was directed straight at Samba who was able to parry it away and out for a corner.

Forest just could not handle the sharp David Brooks who was picking up pockets in between their midfield and defence, and he saw an effort rasp just past the post.

Chris Hughton's side continued to look laboured and were struggling to muster up any genuine chances, and somehow, just before the stroke of half-time, the Cherries didn't go 2-0 up as a goal-mouth scramble ensued but Stanislas' effort was just steered off the line by Scott McKenna.

Bournemouth kick-started the second half exactly how they started the first, and within five minutes they made it 2-0.

Solanke was brought down by Jack Colback in the box, which on reflection looked a potentially harsh decision, and Stanislas made no mistake from the penalty spot to further the Cherries' lead.

Since that goal, Nottingham Forest grew into the came and the introduction of Anthony Knockaert to the pitch certainly seemed to inject some energy into the Reds.

And with 20 minutes to go, two major chances for Forest came in the space of two minutes.

Ameobi drove into space and fired a hard shot from around 25 yards at Begovic who excellently parried over the bar, and then moments later, another opportunity went begging for the Reds as Ryan Yates' header from Anthony Knockaert's cross flew narrowly over the bar.

The tide continued to swing in Nottingham Forest's favour and Ameobi was handed another golden chance to nab a goal back after he was left completely alone after a Knockaert free-kick, but he skewed his volley wide of the left-hand post.

The Reds continued to push with Knockaert often the centre of it, but it came to no avail as Forest's toothless streak in front of goal continued.
