Adebayo starts: The predicted Luton Town XI to face Huddersfield on Friday night

Luton Town will be hoping to end a 30-year absence from England’s top-flight by continuing to defy the odds and secure promotion to the Premier League via the Championship play-offs.

Nathan Jones’ side, who finished sixth in the second tier, welcome Huddersfield Town to Kenilworth Road tomorrow evening before a trip to Yorkshire on Monday.

Whoever comes out victorious across those two legs will face the winner of Sheffield United and Nottingham Forest at Wembley.

With injuries a common theme throughout the season for the Hatters, Jones saw the likes of Sonny Bradley, James Bree and Allan Campbell return for Saturday’s 1-0 victory vs Reading.

It remains to be seen if the Luton boss will be able to welcome back any other players before Huddersfield visit tomorrow night, with Elijah Adebayo, Fred Onyedinma and Pelly Ruddock Mpaznu all notable absentees.

Here, we take a look at how the Bedfordshire club might line up for the visit of Huddersfield tomorrow…

In what year was the club founded?

Extending his emergency loan with the Hatters, Matt Ingram will continue operating between the sticks, with the 28-year-old performing well against the Royals.

James Bree returned against Reading and was excellent, providing energy, attacking threat and defensive resilience, and is likely to start once more.

On the opposite flank, Amari’i Bell is near-cert with the 2021 signing thriving in a wing-back role this season.

Reece Burke is another signing who has mightily impressed this season, with the 25-year-old likely to be partnered by his captain Sonny Bradley, and the Players’ Player of the Season Kal Naismith.

In midfield, Henri Lansbury is likely to be slotted alongside the relentless Allan Campbell, who won four awards at the club’s presentation evening.

Operating slightly more advanced than the aforementioned duo, Jordan Clark was also back, with the 29-year-old shining in an attacking midfield position.

Looking to speed up his recovery using freezing cryotherapy treatment, Elijah Adebayo is hoping to be fit for tomorrow’s clash, and should that be the case, Jones could opt for the physicality of deploying him next to Cameron Jerome.

That would mean Harry Cornick would miss out, however, his pace off the bench could prove pivotal.
