Reading have completed the signing of Ovie Ejaria, with the midfielder joining from Liverpool on a season-long loan initially.

The Royals announced the deal on their official site and explained just how late the move was confirmed, revealing that the contract was signed 16 minutes before the deadline and it was submitted with nine minutes to go.

Nevertheless, it has gone through and it will see Ejaria return to the Madejski Stadium after spending the second half of last season with Reading.

He impressed during that time with the Royals, with his displays in the middle of the park helping Jose Gomes' side to safety in the previous campaign.

And, the club also confirmed that they have an option to make the move a permanent, with reporter Neil Jones claiming on Twitter that a fee rising to £3.5m for the 21-year-old has already been agreed. As well as that, Liverpool will have a 20% sell-on clause as part of any future transfer.

Ejaria could be involved for his new side as they take on Hull this weekend.

The Verdict

This is a fantastic bit of business from the Royals as they needed a bit more quality in midfield and Ejaria will provide that with his ability on the ball.

As well as that, he is a player everyone at the club knows and the fact they have an option to buy is another positive to this deal.

From his perspective, this is a chance to settle down somewhere for the long-term and he will hope to develop as a player under Gomes.

This has topped off what has been a superb window for Reading, with the club making several impressive deals in the past 48 hours.
