Adding this extraordinary Manchester City rising star would really boost Sheffield Wednesday’s chances of promotion

Sheffield Wednesday have been knocking on the Premier League’s door for the past two seasons but failure in the play-off campaigns have seen them miss out.

But a new season brings new optimism to the Wednesday faithful who will be desperately hoping that this year will be their year to earn a place in the big league.

So far, Carlos Carvalhal has only added one player in the form of George Boyd but he will certainly not be looking to draw a line there as more reinforcements may be needed if promotion is to happen.

One man who I think the Owls should definitely consider bringing to Hillsborough is Manchester City starlet Phil Foden.

You might be thinking, who? But in a matter of years this boy could be tearing the Premier League apart if his pre-season performance against Manchester United is anything to go by.

The central midfielder, who is just 17 years of age, run the likes of Paul Pogba ragged as the Stockport-born player showed his promise.

Foden has been with City since Under-9 level and has worked his way up ever since to get to this point.

Last season he was even named in a Champions League matchday squad when City faced Celtic last December.

The City website describe him as a left-footed playmaker who has a real eye for a pass and the ability to glide through players, something which became evident in City’s 2-0 defeat to Manchester United on Thursday evening.

He would be a brilliant addition to the Wednesday squad, with the mix of experience and youth hopefully being the ingredient which could earn the Owls promotion.

Wednesday fans… How pleased would you be if your club could pull this deal off? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
