Blackburn Rovers have signed Jack Payne on loan from Huddersfield Town, the club's official website has confirmed today.

Jack Payne spent the first half of the season on loan at Oxford United in League One but Huddersfield recalled him and have now sent him to Blackburn.

The attacking midfielder has plenty of experience at this level, having made 88 appearances for Southend United, scoring 17 goals in that time and picking up their Player of the Year award.

Last season, Payne helped Huddersfield to promotion with two goals in 23 outings for David Wagner's side.

The 23-year-old becomes Blackburn's second signing of the January transfer window after Tony Mowbray confirmed the addition of Newcastle striker Adam Armstrong on loan.

Blackburn fans took to Twitter to share their views on this addition and most are feeling very optimistic about their chances of promotion now.
