Bolton Wanderers finally received some good news this season, as the club confirmed that Laurence Bassini had completed his takeover of the club.

The Trotters have had a number of off-the-field troubles that have had an impact with performances on the pitch, with players and staff being paid late in recent months.

But it seems unlikely that Bassini's takeover is going to be able to change their fortunes on the pitch, as Phil Parkinson's side look like they are destined to drop into League One this season.

Former Bolton striker, Adam Le Fondre expressed his delight at the news of the takeover being completed on Wednesday, which means everyone at the club can turn over a new leaf.

Le Fondre spent one full season with Bolton in the 2017/2018 season before departing the club, having mutually terminated his contact.

He now plays for Sydney FC in Australia, where he has been in impressive form, having netted 16 league goals in his debut season with the club.

Bolton are currently sat 23rd in the Championship table and are ten points adrift of safety, and with just four games remaining of their season, they can be relegated if results don't go their way on Friday.

But with Bassini's takeover now completed, supporters will be hoping that they can focus on rebuilding for next season in League One, where they'll be hoping for an immediate return to the second tier of English football.

The Verdict:

They'd have him back in a heartbeat.

Bolton have needed a goalscorer in their side this season and Le Fondre was exactly that in his time in England.

It's good to see him still keeping tabs on his former club though, and Bolton supporters will be hoping that they can put their off-the-field troubles behind them now that the takeover has been completed.
