Adam Forshaw has warned Leeds United that there will be more twists and turns as Marcelo Bielsa’s side go in search of automatic promotion.

Leeds took advantage of more dropped points from Sheffield United at the weekend, beating Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 at Elland Road in Saturday evening’s fixture.

Whilst promotion is firmly in Leeds’ sights heading into the final four games of the season, Forshaw, who previously won promotion with Middlesbrough, encouraged his teammates to just keep doing what they have been doing to this point.

"The easy thing to say is, ‘Believe’. It is any other game really. We just have to keep doing what we have been doing to this point," he told Saturday’s matchday programme, which has been quoted by Leeds Live.

However, the midfielder did go on to warn Leeds that there would be more twists and turns in the coming weeks.

“The more you complicate it, the more it will become complicated,” the 27-year-old continued. “We have to keep doing what has worked well so far. It has been a great season so far and there will be another couple of twists and turns in the last five games, I am sure of that.

“We just have to keep doing what we have been doing day in, day out and see where it takes us.”

The four-game run-in begins for Leeds on Good Friday when they face Wigan Athletic at Elland Road, with the Whites then heading to Brentford for a tough clash on Easter Monday.

Bielsa’s side then entertain Aston Villa on April 28 before heading to Ipswich Town for the final game of the 46-game season.

The Verdict

Forshaw has experienced this kind of pressure before and his Leeds teammates will be taking note of what he says.

It won’t be straightforward from here and Leeds need to keep focused on their results.

Worrying about Sheffield United or Norwich could work against Leeds, who have things in their own hands.
