Federici wants more from the Reading team

Federici pulled off some stunning saves, as the Royals domination fell to pieces during the second half.

The Australian, 29, says he 'can't put his finger' on why his side are in such poor form, but says his teammates need to show some character.

He told the press: “I don’t know where to start. We’re in a bad run and people, young, old, experienced or not, have to stand up together. It seems to be a theme at the moment. We concede one and one or two more soon follow. It could have been five or six on Tuesday night.

“It was really poor from us because we had a good first half but they came out firing in the second half and we couldn’t handle it. It’s a recurring theme and I can’t put my finger on why it’s happening.

“I’ve been in many Reading teams over the years and, when we went a goal behind, we usually came back and won 2-1 or 3-1. But now it seems if we don’t get the first goal we capitulate like we did on Tuesday night.

“We now need strong characters to stand up and be counted on Saturday against Blackpool. It’s a massive game for us and it’s time to stand up and work hard.

“That’s what it’s all about now. Putting in the graft and leaving it all out there on Saturday.

“I never give up. In the past we’ve come back from big deficits. I always feel like we’re still in a game, all we need is some inspiration.

“I’ve got a never give up attitude and we all need to adopt that on Saturday.”
