It's been a frustrating league campaign for Middlesbrough this term in Jonathan Woodgate's first season in charge of his former club. 

Boro are currently sat 19th in the Championship table, and will be eager to pull themselves further clear of the relegation zone when this year's campaign gets back underway.

Middlesbrough's days of playing in the Premier League will feel like a distant memory for plenty of the club's supporters.

Boro won promotion back into the top-flight in dramatic circumstances, as they held Brighton and Hove Albion to a 1-1 draw at the Riverside on the final day of the season to beat the Seagulls to the automatic promotion place in the second tier standings.

The Verdict: 

This was definitely a season to remember for Middlesbrough.

To win promotion on the final day of the season after holding Brighton and Hove Albion was a fantastic achievement for the club, and it will remain long in the memory of the club's supporters for years to come.

Clayton certainly played his part in that promotion-winning season, and he'll be hoping to create similar memories at the earliest of opportunities.

It's a difficult period for Middlesbrough at this moment in time, and the Riverside faithful will be keen to see their side get back to winning ways and finish the season as strongly as possible under the guidance of Jonathan Woodgate.
