Sheffield Wednesday defender Achraf Lazaar has sent a positive message to his teammates on social media following the win over Bristol City on Easter Monday.

The Owls kept their slim play-off hopes alive with a 2-0 win over the Robins at Hillsborough, with first-half strikes from Barry Bannan and Lucas Joao enough for the three points.

Wednesday are now up to ninth in the Championship table and still have an outside chance of snatching the final play-off spot.

Steve Bruce's side are four points outside the top six with two matches remaining, although Bristol City and Derby County both have a game in hand on the Owls.

Following the result at Hillsborough, Lazaar congratulated his teammates on social media, posting this message on his personal Instagram account on Tuesday afternoon.

The defender was making just his fourth appearance for Sheffield Wednesday since joining on loan from Newcastle United in January and played the full 90 minutes for the first time since his debut.

The Moroccan international has struggled with a hamstring injury and has found it difficult to break into the team since his move to Hillsborough.

The Verdict

It's good to see the defender back in action again for Sheffield Wednesday, after what have been a difficult few weeks for the player.

Wednesday still have an outside chance of making the play-offs, but it will be difficult for them.

All the Owls can do is concentrate on winning their final two matches in the hope that the teams above them drop points.
