Sheffield United sit top of the Championship as we head into the second international break of the season.

Blades fans will have the bragging rights over the rest of the league for another week at least, as their side are looking down on everyone else from the top.

Chris Wilder’s men have won eight of their twelve games, and look solid both offensively and defensively, scoring 21 goals along the way.

Most recently, Sheffield United showed their resilient side with two wins in a matter of days against Blackburn and Hull City, in which they kept two clean sheets.

So far, so good, it would seem. Sheffield United flirted with the play-offs last season but didn’t quite make the cut when it came down to it in the last few weeks of the season.

This time, they are wiser and older, and Chris Wilder will firmly believe they have what it takes to make the leap up to the Premier League.

Although the performances throughout have been good, some have been excellent.

Here at FLW, we have crunched the numbers and assessed the stats, so can present the best THREE players for Sheffield United so far…

Despite rumours of leaving in summer, Billy Sharp remained at Sheffield United. The veteran striker is again proving people wrong as he continues to shine in the Championship.

With 7 goals so far this season, Sharp is by far Sheffield United’s best player in terms of stats.

Oliver Norwood is looking like one of the signings of the season across the division. The ex-Brighton and Fulham promotion winner is already winning vast plaudits at Bramall Lane for his abilities.

Norwood has registered an average of 2.3 tackles per match, 2.9 key passes per match, as well as a pass completion rate of 86.2%. These are outstanding stats and show the importance of Norwood to Wilder’s team.

Some critics joked with the pun ‘McGoaldrought’, after the Blades striker struggled for goals at first at Sheffield United.

Despite this, David McGoldrick has netted 5 goals so far this season, which is very impressive. This makes him one of Blades’ best players statistically.
