Aston Villa have had a poor start to the season but have hopefully turned a corner with the appointment of Dean Smith as head coach.

Villa sit 15th in the Championship after twelve matches and are in a state of disarray after winning just one match in the last nine.

Despite this, Dean Smith breathes some fresh air into Villa Park and this could be beneficial for all.

The Villa Park faithful gave up with Steve Bruce and the picture of the cabbage that was thrown at the ex-manager speaks the equivalent that a thousand words could do.

Next up for Villa are tough games against Swansea then Norwich, with just a couple of days rest in between.

If they can get four points from those, it will send a signal to the rest of the league that Villa mean business and they are in the promotion race.

Here at FLW, we look at the THREE best players in a poor Villa side, statistically speaking…

Jonathan Kodjia has been Villa’s star man so far this season and has been the man that the Villa faithful turn to when they need a goal.

So far, Kodjia has registered four goals and one assist and is statistically Villa’s most productive player.

Ahmed Elmohamady has been a crucial cog of Villa’s system for a few years now, and this season is no exception.

The Egyptian full back has chipped in with two goals and three assists thus far, which makes him Villa’s most creative asset.

John McGinn is best known for his wonder strike that went viral alongside his FIFA 19 card, but aside from that, he is crucial to Aston Villa.

He is the most well rounded player for Villa so far, and has made the most tackles and registered the most assists out of all the players, which shows his nous at both ends of the pitch.
