AC Milan have reached an agreement with Wigan Athletic over a potential deal for full-back Antonee Robinson according to Sky Sports journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Robinson has been in hugely impressive form for Wigan this season, and has been a regular in Paul Cook's side so far.

In total, the former Everton defender has made 30 appearances for the Latics this term as they continue to struggle to stay afloat in the Championship.

Paul Cook's men are currently sat 22nd in the second tier standings, and will be hoping they can fire themselves up the league table at the earliest of opportunities.

Romano's update on Robinson comes after it was revealed by Football Insider that Wigan had rejected a bid of £6.5m for Robinson on Thursday.

The 22-year-old has been with Wigan since he moved to the DW Stadium from Premier League side Everton in the summer of 2019.

It appears as though his impressive performances haven't gone unnoticed in a relatively short space of time with the Latics.

It's set to be a frantic end to the January transfer window for Wigan it appears, and you would imagine that manager Paul Cook will be eager to find a replacement for the USA international as soon as possible heading into Deadline Day.

Wigan are next in action on Saturday when they take on league leaders Leeds United at Elland Road, in what is certain to be a tricky test for the Latics.

The Verdict:

It seems as though AC Milan are finally going to get their man in the January transfer window.

They have been long-term admirers of Robinson, and the full-back will surely be tempted by a move to the Italian giants before the deadline passes on Friday night.

He's been one of the rare bright sparks for Paul Cook's side this season, so I'm not surprised to see him attracting interest from a team in a better position than Wigan currently find themselves in.

The Wigan boss needs to find a replacement for him before the transfer window closes, otherwise they'll be in real trouble this season.
