West Brom fell to a surprise 2-1 defeat to Bolton Wanderers on their return to the Championship yesterday.

The Baggies were favourites to get all three points against a Trotters side that only survived with a late, late goal on the final day in the previous campaign.

However, Phil Parkinson's men battled hard and secured a victory thanks to Yanic Wildschut's winner in the 89th minute after a Harvey Barnes wondergoal had cancelled out Josh Magennis' opener.

There were few positives for Darren Moore, who was taking charge of his first game as a permanent manager, with Albion short on ideas in the final third.

Most of their chances came through set-plays, with Ahmed Hegazi guilty of missing a few opportunities from Chris Brunt's corners.

Unsurprisingly, this result did not go down well with the fans, with many also questioning why Moore only made one sub despite the clear struggles of the team.
