Sheffield Wednesday are the only side in the Championship that are yet to make a single signing this summer.

Manager Jos Luhukay declared himself happy with his squad after a pre-season win back in the middle of July.

And that would reflect in the Owl’s lack of summer transfer activity.

Four players have left Hillsborough with no sign of replacements thus far.

Jack Hunt moved to Bristol City, while Jordan Rhodes left for Norwich on a season-long loan.

Ross Wallace and Glenn Loovens were both released.

The quartet were important first-team players for Wednesday last year, making a combined total of 123 appearances.

With four experienced players leaving and no one yet to replace them, Wednesday fans could be forgiven for being concerned at the lack of investment in the team this summer.

Wednesday kick-off their Championship campaign away to Wigan Athletic this Saturday.

Will the Owls' lack of depth hurt them this season?

We discuss…

Gary Hutchinson

Absolutely, they're relying too much on Forestieri being brilliant, and that is only going to bite them further down the line.

I fear for the Owls, I've seen nothing to suggest Luhukay is a brilliant coach and their squad is worse than last season.

Alfie Burns

There’s still a lot of quality at Hillsborough, even on the fringes.

However, they have a number of players prone to injury, which could leave them short at times.

It’s not been a great summer, and there isn’t much optimism in South Yorkshire at this stage.

Chris Gallagher

They definitely need a few more quality players in.

The Owls have a lot of similar players but lack that real outstanding quality, which only comes from Forestieri.

They need two or three of his standard to arrive, or it's another mid-table season I think.

Jay Taylor

You can't stand still in football, that is a cardinal sin. You need to keep moving and progress.

The gratuitous lack of investment is frightening for a team who made it to Wembley two years ago.

Manager Jos Luhukay's words could well come back to haunt him if Wednesday have a poor start.
