It was a brilliant Tuesday night for Nottingham Forest, with the Reds closing the gap between themselves and second place to just two points after victory over Brentford.

The Reds went into the clash at Griffin Park on the back of a disappointing 1-1 home draw with Reading, therefore Sabri Lamouchi's side would have definitely been looking to respond against the Bees.

Brentford had won their last six games on their home turf before Tuesday night, so Lamouchi would have known what a tough test the Reds were in for as they made the trip to West London.

An early goal sent the visitors on their way to an invaluable three points, though. Joe Lolley scoring in the 14th minute through a deflected effort that whistled its way into the top corner.

Forest had to deal with wave after wave of pressure from the hosts from that moment, especially in the second-half as the dangerous Bees threatened to score an equaliser.

But the Reds defended magnificently well, on a night where Ben Watson marshaled the midfield and helped Forest overpower the Bees in the middle of the park.

The experienced midfielder made several blocks and key tackles to help nullify the threat of Brentford, and produced one of his best performances of the season so far, anchoring the midfield.
