Sheffield Wednesday striker Jordan Rhodes made his first Championship start of the season against Derby County last night and his performance appears to have drawn a split reaction from Owls fans.
Wednesday took a deserved early lead through Steven Fletcher in the 23rd minute, as he swept Barry Bannan’s pass into the back of the net.
However, as has happened so many times in the 2019/20 campaign, the Owls failed to take advantage of their dominance and let their opponents back into the game late on.
In the 82nd minute, Moses Odubajo brought down Jack Marriott inside the penalty area, allowing Chris Martin to score an equaliser from the subsequent spot-kick.
Garry Monk opted to start in a 4-4-2, with Fletcher partnering Rhodes up front, in what was just the second start of the season for the 29-year-old.
Rhodes looked a bit rusty but showed some promising signs–taking one shot on target and one off target, and winning one of his three ground duels and six of his nine aerial duels (Sofascore).

Usual, infuriating Wednesday. Should be murdering teams like that.
What now for Rhodes? How many touches did he have tonight? #swfc

Thought Rhodes had a solid first half! Not match sharp, but put himself about and gave Fletch someone to play off. Good to see him in and now Nuhiu to cause problems for the last 15👊🏻👏🏻

Worst derby team we've ever played. Still dont win! Rhodes is useless. We need a proper quick striker to partner fletch..disappointed again #swfc

Jordan Rhodes was so incredibly meh. He wasn’t bad, had some decent hold up play but at no point did he look like a real threat. #SWFC
