Fulham suffered their second defeat in four days on Tuesday evening as they slipped to a 2-1 loss at the hands of Championship play-off contenders Preston at Deepdale.

Sean Maguire put Alex Neil's side side ahead in the first half before Denis Odoi was sent off for Fulham, while Preston's Joe Rafferty was then dismissed on the stroke of half-time before David Nugent then scored the hosts' second after the break.

Aleksandar Mitrovic netted a late consolation goal for Scott Parker's side, but this did not prove to be enough to engineer a route back into the match as third-placed Fulham failed to keep pace with second-placed Leeds who secured a 2-0 win over Hull.

It was another concerning result for Parker who also saw his side lose 2-1 at home to Bristol City over the weekend, and he will be particularly disappointed with his team's defensive performance during a lacklustre performance from the Cottagers.

The Fulham boss lined up with Tim Ream and Alfie Mawson at the centre of defence, but the latter came under plenty of criticism for his performance which eventually saw him substituted by Parker on the hour-mark.

Mawson has started every league game for the Craven Cottage outfit so far this term, but his place in the side will surely come into doubt when fellow centre-back Michael Hector becomes available to make his debut for the club in January.

Plenty of Fulham supporters took to Twitter during and after the match to criticise Mawson's poor performance, while some suggested that Hector should replace the 25-year-old in the side when he becomes available.
