Despite having suffered with the loss of key players to injury and suspension, Leeds United have continued to perform well in the Championship this season and are currently only a point off leaders Norwich City in second place.

Whites manager Marcelo Bielsa has told the YEP that he will not rush striker Patrick Bamford back into action, even though the player is ahead of his schedule in his recovery.

"He’s a very important player but it’s one thing to be fit and another to recover his performances.

“I think he’ll need some time to get to the level he was at before he got injured but we’re very happy to have him back so he can start the process of getting to his level sooner than we were expecting.”

So is the management of Bamford a wise move by Bielsa?

We discuss.....

Alfie Burns

Absolutely – there’s no need to rush Bamford back when Kemar Roofe is in this kind of form.

Leeds are going to need Bamford badly over the course of the season, so they won’t want to aggravate an injury either.

Gary Hutchinson

Absolutely the right decision for Leeds.

They’ve got to be careful with their assets and Bamford will, eventually, be an asset.

If they brought him back too quick, what would it achieve?

Nothing. Be patient and reap long term rewards.

George Harbey

It’s a wise call.

The last thing that Leeds want to do is rush Bamford and chuck him in at the deep end.

He’ll want to make a full recovery and replicate the form he showed last year.
