Nottingham Forest outcast Rafa Mir has cut short his loan spell at the City Ground after struggling for form and game-time, with his parent club Wolves confirming that the 22-year-old will be joining SD Huesca on loan until the end of next season.

In doing so, Mir is taking a step down, with Huesca in the Spanish Segunda Division, but in playing against second-tier opposition it may help him recapture some form, while also getting some much needed game-time.

But how can Mir's loan spell at Forest be best summed up?

We discuss.........

George Brooks

"Rafa Mir really struggled to make an impact for Nottingham Forest and in the end, it seemed inevitable that he would be leaving the City Ground this month.

"The Spaniard struggled to get into the team ahead of Lewis Grabban, he only started two games in the league and when he did get on to the pitch, his performances were very disappointing and he seemed to suffer from a lack of confidence.

"Hopefully he'll be able to get his career back on track in Spain with Huesca. He scored seven goals in the Spanish second division last season, so this could turn out to be a good move from him.

"The important thing for Forest now is that they're able to sign another striker who is able to provide better cover and competition for Grabban. If they can do that, they've got a good chance of finishing the season in the play-off places."

Chris Gallagher

"Absolutely terrible.

"It might seem harsh on someone who tried hard but what else can you say? He is a striker that was brought in to score goals and he just wasn't up to it.

"Wolves signed him from the Spanish third tier so it was a risk on their behalf and he has shown no signs that he could cut it in England.

"He was given enough opportunities over the past few months to show that he could be the man to provide proper backup to Lewis Grabban but he just wasn't up to it. It's nothing against Mir but he isn't suited to English football and this move to Huesca will suit him, as it will Forest who now need to sign a better backup option."

Kris Smith

“Not great at all really, given that he didn’t feature much and when he did play, he made little impact consistently to warrant keeping his place in the side.

“Having signed for Wolves, fending off interest from Real Madrid for his signature, there was a lot of promise when he arrived in England and when he moved on loan to the City Ground, but this hasn’t come to fruition.

“He came into the Forest side to provide extra depth in the attack and give competition to Lewis Grabban who was always going to be first-choice, but Mir hasn’t done nearly enough to justify dropping Grabban for him.

“It was best that his loan ended so that he can get away from Forest where it clearly wasn’t working for any party, so a move back to Spain might help him rekindle the form that made him such a hot property before moving to England.”
