Reports have recently surfaced that Ipswich Town are looking at signing Swansea City's Cameron Carter-Vickers, as well as experienced Nottingham Forest forward Daryl Murphy on loan in January.

The latter is no stranger to those at Portman Road - the 35-year old scored 67 goals in a total of 225 appearances for the Tractor Boys, during four different spells with the club.

Having scored four times in nine games for Forest this season, the Irishman has fell well down the pecking order behind the division's top goalscorer Lewis Grabban and could be on his way out of the City Ground in January.

Here, we discuss whether it'd be a good signing for Ipswich...

George Harbey

This would be exactly what Ipswich need.

Murphy is loved at Portman Road and will score you goals at this level regardless of his age.

The signings of Ellis Harrison and Kayden Jackson just hasn't worked this season, so the addition of Murphy could definitely inject some life into Paul Lambert's front-line.

Jay Taylor

This could be a great capture for Ipswich Town.

Daryl Murphy is a strong focal point of a striker and having played for the club before, could allow the fans to believe that the great escape is on.

It would be a galvanising signing for Paul Lambert's men and could turn out to be the catalyst in their bid to avoid the drop into League One.

Alfie Burns

Absolutely perfect signing.

Murphy knows Ipswich well and will score the goals they need.

If they get this over the line, it’ll give them a huge boost in their survival bid.

Louie Chandler

I think so.

Although it must be a bit depressing for Ipswich fans that their club find themselves in a position where someone like Murphy is their only hope.

But he knows the club and he knows the league so it looks like a sensible move in the circumstances.
