Birmingham City will be hoping for a much improved campaign in 2018/19 after scraping their way to safety last term.

But can the Blues, under the guidance of Garry Monk, finally turn around their fortunes and finish in the top six?

While most people would write them off, you never know in the Championship. Stranger things have happened.

Birmingham need to add a new striker and improve in a few other areas to mount a serious challenge but they have a decent core squad and their attacking midfield options of Jota, Jacques Maghoma and Che Adams mean they will always be a threat.

If Garry Monk can get everything to click, then the Blues could just rocket up the league table.

Louie Chandler

Absolutely not. They have far too much work to do this summer and do not have the financial clout with which to do it.

They would be far better suited to focusing on having a solid season rather than dreaming of a play-off spot.

If Monk can get the group playing to the best of their ability, the Blues will be up there.

I do worry about their striker situation at the moment, as it stands, Monk's men don't have a clearcut, lethal striker who is going to notch you 20+ goals a season.

The influence of Jota will be very important for the Blues next season, they need to get him firing on all cylinders to stand a chance of reaching the coveted top six.
