Sheffield United blew away struggling Reading at the weekend with a 4-0 win that took the Blades into the automatic promotion spots, and marked loan striker Gary Madine's first two goals since his move to Bramall Lane from Cardiff City in January.

Madine's goals were his first in over a year, having failed to score for Cardiff in his 18 appearances since arriving there in January 2018.

So with Madine back in the goals, should the Blades sign him permanently if they go up?

We discuss.....

Alfie Burns

“He’s shown what an incredible impact player he can be in a short time at Bramall Lane and he seems to fit the Wilder way.

“Madine doesn’t scream Premier League quality, but Wilder has a habit of getting the best out of players.

“He’s doing that with Madine and if the Blades go up, you’d back him to continue doing so.”

Gary Hutchinson

“If they go up, they’ll be in a different market.

“What I will say is there’s no need to be signing exotic sounding players from Spain and France.

“There’s value in players who are right here, it just needs the right manager to coax it out.

“Chris Wilder is that man.”

George Harbey

"I don’t think they should.

"United will obviously want to sustain their place in the top flight, and they need to score goals to do that.

"Madine’s record in the top flight isn’t in the best by any means, and there are better options out there."

Jay Taylor

“He didn’t really impress at Cardiff after they went up, but he was not afforded the chance to.

“Madine gets the Blades and understands them, so it would be a wise move to snap him up.

“Wilder will want to keep the bulk of his side together, and that should include the loan star.”

Jacob Potter

"Absolutely not.

"Madine was loaned out from Cardiff because he couldn’t cut it in the Premier League, and there’s absolutely no way that he’ll be good enough next season.

"Wilder already has better options available to him and I would be stunned if they signed him permanently."
