Lincoln City came within ten minutes of delivering a real cup upset at Sincil Bank last night, giving a great account of themselves as they went down 4-2 to a strong Everton side.

Marco Silva was in no mood to underestimate the Imps, with Moise Kean, Alex Iwobi, Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurðsson starting in a strong line-up. Lincoln, playing their seventh game of the month thus far, made five changes to their League One starting side.

Whilst the team selection favoured the visitors, Lincoln were ahead inside 21 seconds. A John Akinde flick on was kept in smartly by Jack Payne and he pulled the ball back for Harry Anderson to smash home his third of the season.

Lucas Digne lashed home a world-class free kick before the break and when Morgan Schneiderlin went down easily in the box after half time, Everton took a 2-1 lead thanks to Sigurðsson. Still the League One side didn't give up, with Andrade volleying home perhaps the goal of the night on 70 minutes.

For ten minutes they took the game to their opponents, but a late brace undid them; Iwobi and Richarlison getting the goals. It was still a fantastic night for Danny Cowley's side in front of just under 10,000 at Sincil Bank.

They've been reacting on Twitter to the Bruno Andrade goal, arguably the cleanest hit of a football they've seen at Sincil Bank in a long, long while.
