Jordan Rhodes netted a superb hat-trick as Sheffield Wednesday cruised to an emphatic 4-0 victory over Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon.

The striker had failed to find the net during his six previous appearances this campaign, but he scored on three occasions inside the first half at the City Ground as his attacking partner Steven Fletcher scored the Owls' only other goal.

Rhodes has struggled to truly find his feet at Hillsborough since first joining the club back in 2017, but has now proven his goalscoring ability in style during his second consecutive start for Garry Monk's side.

The former Blackburn man's goalscoring haul has now helped elevate Wednesday up to fifth in the Championship table after winning three of their last four games, while Rhodes has now become the Owls' joint-second top goalscorer this term.

Plenty of Wednesday supporters took to Twitter to express their joy at Rhodes' hat-trick, while others suggested this match could be the start of big things for the striker if his teammates keep providing him with service.
