It seems as if fans of Blackpool Football Club’s lengthy fight with the Oyston family finally looks to be over, with significant news recently emerging from Bloomfield Road.
A High Court bid to appoint a receiver to force owner Owen Oyston to pay the £25million he still owes Valeri Belokon has been approved, according to the Blackpool Gazette – subsequently meaning that he will be ordered to sell his assets such as Blackpool Football Club and Bloomfield Road stadium, the club’s training ground.
The Tangerines have plummeted down the divisions in recent years, with a large majority of fans boycotting the club and protesting against the Oystons, who have owned the club since 1986 after buying them for just £1.
Reports also claim, though, that the club could potentially be docked 12 points by the EFL in light of this recent news, but this is yet to be confirmed. It would affect Blackpool’s play-off chances for sure, but with relegation really unlikely even if they do get deducted points, it is massive news for all concerned with the club.
Here, we take a look at Blackpool fans’ reactions to this significant update…
