Coventry City are reportedly exploring the option of playing their football at local rugby ground Butts Park next season, with their future at the Ricoh Arena looking uncertain.

The 32,000-seater arena, home to rugby union side London Wasps, has been City's home since it was first built in 2005, but looks unlikely to be their ground for next season having failed to agree a new lease with the city council and the Wasps.

It is now believed that Butts Park, home to Coventry R.F.C and Coventry Bears, is being considered an option by the club's owners Sisu. The stadium, which holds just 4,000 people compared to the Ricoh's 32,000, is situated around four miles away from their current ground.

Here, we discuss this major development...

George Harbey

"This is absolutely baffling - what a shambles this would be.

"Coventry's average attendance this season is just over 12,000, whereas this stadium wouldn't even be able to accommodate for two thirds of that figure.

"It must be a terrible situation for everyone concerned with the club, and it must be so hard for Robins to keep morale high and gain any consistency on the pitch whatsoever."

Louie Chandler

"It's not ideal but it could be worse.

"Obviously the fans would much rather watch their side in the Ricoh Arena and many, I'm sure, will protest this move as well.

"But at the very least they are remaining in the same city, which is a small mercy."

Jacob Potter

"This isn't a smart move.

"Coventry are a big club and the predicament they're in is the stuff of nightmares.

"Surely they would comfortably sell this out and it wouldn't even hold the demand of the Sky Blues supporters in my opinion.

"Surely there are better options out there for them?"
