Nottingham Forest have endured a pretty inconsistent start to the season, and currently reside in 14th spot in the division.
One player who was expected to kick on this season is 22-year-old attacking midfielder Zach Clough.
However, the former Bolton Wanderers man has been restricted to just 298 minutes of action so far this season in the Championship and League Cup.
There is a lot of competition for £2.25m-rated Clough at Forest, but does he deserve more chances from Warburton?
The writers here at FLW have issued their verdicts….
A very tough one.
Despite their inconsistent start to the season, Forest do have very talented players in the final third, so you can see why Clough has struggled to start.
However, Warburton’s men aren’t scoring many at the minute so perhaps Clough should get his chance. He hasn’t kicked on from the exciting youngster we saw at Bolton and a run of games could help him.
It’s worth a punt.
Forest have got plenty of good young players, particularly going forward, and with things not going as good as they could right now, why not change it.
Clough is an exciting talent with plenty of room to grow and he’ll surely be hungry to prove a point once he gets his chance. I’d give him a start this weekend if I was Mark Warburton.
Absolutely, the talented midfielder needs more of an opportunity.
Clough creates and scores goals, and has done throughout his short career – it is a surprise to see him often used so sparingly by Warburton.
There is a battle between Clough and Kieran Dowell for the number 10 role at the City Ground, and personally, I feel that Clough has the edge.
