‘Absolute shambles’, ‘What a waste’ – Many Sheffield Wednesday fans react as club confirm player departure

Sheffield Wednesday have confirmed that loan winger Theo Corbeanu has been recalled by Wolverhampton Wanderers – and he’s headed straight back out of Molineux again to a League One rival.

Reports emerged on Thursday that the six-cap Canada international was set to have his season-long loan at Hillsborough cut short in order to make a move to Milton Keynes Dons instead, and now that has been officially announced.

The 19-year-old, who made his Premier League debut at the end of the 2020-21 season for Wolves, was expected to make a big impact at Wednesday but Darren Moore rarely used him in his favoured position as a winger.

It took Moore until November to give the Canadian his first start in the league after five substitute appearances, but a change of system from earlier in the season meant that Corbeanu had to slot in as a wing-back on both sides of the pitch.

Wolves loan manager Matt Jackson confirmed that it was Corbeanu’s choice in the end to swap South Yorkshire for the Dons with the hope of a more regular starting berth in a more advanced position on the pitch.

Wednesday fans have obviously been reacting to this development – let’s see what they have been saying.
