There will have been plenty of sleepless nights in Bolton last night with the club facing the high-court today and a potential winding-up order.

The worst case scenario could have seen the club enter liquidation and see them drop out of the Football League entirely, meaning their results would be wiped.

But finally some good news arrived when they were granted an extension for Ken Anderson, or a new owner, to pay the club’s outstanding debts.

Reports afterwards suggested that they were close to a sale with the new owner prepared to wipe out the debts left over by Anderson and co.

With the club currently second bottom of the Championship table, eight points from safety, with just eight matches left of the season, League One football will almost certainly be on the cards.

But it is unlikely that fans will be too fussed as long as they still have a club to support although concerns clearly remain...
