Sheffield Wednesday have been drawn against Premier League side Brighton in the Third Round of the FA Cup, which has drawn a frustrated response from many fans of the Yorkshire club.
The draw for the Third Round, the earliest point at which Championship and top-flight sides enter the competition, took place yesterday evening.
The Owls have drawn an away tie against Graham Potter’s side, meaning they will face a 460+ mile round trip between Sheffield and the Amex at the start of January.

Some of the round’s more notable ties include Leeds United traveling to face Arsenal and Middlesbrough hosting Tottenham Hotspur.
In comparison to those, a long trip to face the Seagulls is a slightly less exciting prospect–though Garry Monk’s men may fancy their chances of getting a result.
Brighton are 16th in the Premier League and currently sit just three points above the relegation zone, despite winning back-to-back games.

Wednesday are competing at the other end of their division and are currently just two points outside the Championship play-off places in ninth.
The two sides last met in the Championship in the 2016/17 season, which saw the Seagulls beat Wednesday 2-1 at both the Amex and Hillsborough.
The Owls will no doubt be hoping for a different result this time around but it appears the prospect of facing Brighton has left many fans of the club underwhelmed and frustrated.
