Blackburn Rovers’ relegation fears continued on Wednesday as they fall to defeat at the hands of Leeds United, who strengthen their promotion bid.
For the visitors, neither deadline signing, Alfonso Pedraza or Mo Barrow, made it into the matchday squad, as Garry Monk made several changes from their FA Cup defeat to Sutton at the weekend.
Meanwhile the hosts gave January arrival Lucas Joao a place on the bench.
The match was looking to be goalless until the final twenty minutes of the match when it sprung into life. Stuart Dallas put Leeds ahead in the 73rd minute before Elliot Bennett’s effort from 20 yards gave Blackburn an equaliser.
A Pablo Hernandez corner was met by defender Pontus Jansson in the final moments to give United all three points and go back to Yorkshire with a satisfied result.
It meant Owen Coyle’s team stayed cemented in 23rd, three adrift of safety, but Leeds kept pace with play-off rivals Reading as just one point separates the two sides.
Here’s how both set of supporters reacted to the match on Twitter….

Blackburn are done & finished in the Championship. Absolute joke. Terrible defence & nothing done in the transfer window to solve it #rovers

The Leeds of recent years would have flopped there. Shows the progress being made. I don't think this year is our year but it's close! #lufc
