Huddersfield Town forward Elias Kachunga has sent a message to fans after scoring his first goal of the season against Hull City on Saturday, which has drawn an emotional response from many Terriers supporters.

The 27-year-old scored the third goal in Huddersfield’s 3-0 win over the Tigers, to help his side pick up just their second victory of the season.

The result sees the Yorkshire club climb out of the relegation zone and continues Danny Cowley’s strong start as manager, with the Terriers having taken seven points from their last three games.

Kachunga took to Twitter on Monday to send a message of appreciation to the Huddersfield fans, who have endured a tough few months after seeing their side drop out of the Premier League and then make a disappointing start to life back in the Championship.

Kachunga joined Huddersfield in the summer of 2017 and played a key role in helping them achieve promotion in his first season–scoring 12 goals and providing four assists in 42 Championship appearances.

He played a slightly reduced role in the club’s two seasons in the top flight, making 20 or fewer appearances in either of those, but stuck with the club when they were relegated in the 2018/19 campaign.

Many Terriers fans have not forgotten that and were quick to react to Kachunga’s post with emotional and heartfelt messages.
