‘Absolute credit to yourself’ – These Sunderland fans react to player’s recent departure

21-year-old Sunderland striker Andrew Nelson has left the club, signing for Scottish Premier League side Dundee on a two-and-a-half year deal.
He’s been out injured for most of this season, bouncing back in late November and spending time out on loan with Darlington in the National League North. He bagged six goals in five matches for them, but returned recently to Sunderland to start the next stage of his career.
Instead of a first team chance with the Black Cats, he’s gone back up to Scotland. Having spent time on loan at Falkirk last season, he’s back on a stage he knows with Dundee, currently bottom of the top flight.
With chances limited at the Stadium of Light, a move seems to make sense if he wants first team action. Even so, there’s been a gaggle of Sunderland fans taking to Twitter to wish him luck, with one or two lamenting his lack of chances.
He’s played on loan with Hartlepool as well as Falkirk and Darlington, but hasn’t made a single appearance in the red and white of Sunderland. Some feel that Jack Ross could live to regret that.
Here’s what they’re saying at the moment on Twitter…
Absolute credit to yourself, your family and SAFC mate. I wish you all the very best in Scotland – I’m sure you will absolutely smash it Andy. I feel privileged to have coached you, all the best young man ⚽️????⚪️????⚪️

Good luck fella, seems strange call to let you go with the Maja situation still up in the air. Work with a @Official_Darlo fan who absolutely raved about you.

Big loss to the club Andy. You have more passion and desire for the club and your own personal development than I have seen in a long time. Best of luck in Scotland mate and I know you will be a huge success. Stay true to yourself and keep striving for better as always????
