Oli McBurnie has said that it will be 'great news' for Sheffield United if they can keep Aaron Ramsdale beyond the summer transfer window.

The 23-year-old goalkeeper has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal with discussions taking place over the summer months regarding a move to North London.

A deal looked like it could have been moving nearer, however The Athletic have since revealed that a move to Mikel Arteta's side is on the brink of collapse due to a significant difference in valuation for the England goalkeeper.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Ramsdale at Bramall Lane but discussing the goalkeeper's future, McBurnie says that everyone associated with the Blades will be delighted if he sticks around in South Yorkshire.

As quoted by Yorkshire Live, McBurnie said: "We don't really read that much. We don't really take too much notice when it comes to that stuff.

"The boys have different situations going on with themselves. Rammers (Ramsdale) is a top goalkeeper so naturally, there will be interest in a lot of clubs.

"If we keep him then that will be great news for us. We want him to stay, he's a top, top goalkeeper and we want to keep our best players at the football club."

The verdict

You can hardly blame Oli McBurnie for having this viewpoint.

Aaron Ramsdale is a quality player and it's no surprise at all that he's being linked with a move to Arsenal as quite simply, he's definitely a Premier League level player.

While his move to North London appears to be in doubt, I'm sure that Sheffield United won't mind.

The 23-year-old will almost certainly be the best goalkeeper in the Championship and that is a huge plus for a side who are focused on going up.

Having a player like Ramsdale in their ranks for the season ahead will be a massive boost to their hopes of securing promotion and so I'm sure that supporters will be praying for the end of August to arrive.
