Derby County’s 21-year-old striker Jahmal Hector-Ingram will reportedly be a part of the first-team squad if and when the Championship season returns, which has drawn an interesting reaction from fans of the East Midlands club.
The Rams were back at training this week as Championship clubs begin their preparations for the resumption of the 2019/20 campaign, which is reportedly set to come in June.
It appears Phillip Cocu may have some additional firepower if that does happen as, according to Richard Cusack from the Derby Telegraph, Hector-Ingram will be a part of the first team when football returns.
The striker was pictured training with Phillip Cocu’s senior side in Louie Sibley’s recent Instagram post and is set to remain a part of the squad for the run-in.
The 21-year-old turned down a professional contract at West Ham United and after making the switch to Pride Park in the summer, has turned some heads with his performances for the U23s.
Derby moved to within five points of the top six before the delay to the season, having been much improved after the turn of the year.
Have these 15 current and ex-Derby County players ever played in the Premier League? Have a go now!
Only Fulham have won more Championship points in 2020 – a run that will no doubt give Cocu’s side confidence of closing the gap on the play-offs.
It appears Hector-Ingram could play a part in that push and the news of his improved role has drawn an interesting reaction from fans of the East Midlands club, with some hinting at other young players that may get a chance.

I'm excited to see this kid play, lot's of hype and our attack lacks pace and power. Hopefully he can make some progress into the first team!
