Nottingham Forest have reportedly made an official bid for Boavista defender Reggie Cannon.
Chris Hughton is short of options at full-back at the moment and, according to 90min, Forest have now made an offer for Cannon.
But would he be a good signing for the Reds? And do they need him?

On the face of it, this isn’t a signing which Forest should be desperate to make.
They currently have Jordan Gabriel on the books and brought in Jordi Osei-Tutu on loan from Arsenal to challenge him last week, however, he’s having to play at left-back due to no other recognised option currently available.
But, with Sunderland and Blackpool sniffing around Gabriel, it would make sense to bring in a new, first-choice right-back.
Cannon clearly has ability and pedigree having been sold for $3.5million last summer, and it’s another refreshing target for the Reds as they look to bring in young, upcoming players.
It would be a positive addition, but at the same time, other areas need to be addressed.

His stats on paper aren't very impressive, it has to be said.
One assist from right-back considering he's also played higher up the pitch before is a little underwhelming - but this shouldn't matter too much with the likes of Brennan Johnson, Philip Zinckernagel and Joe Lolley hopefully being able to supply a sufficient amount of creativity.
And after conceding four goals in their opening two Championship matches, partly due to star defender Joe Worrall's absence, the defensive side of his game will be more important and with Worrall currently subject of Premier League interest, it could become an important asset for Forest in the long-term.
Their backline was their clear strength last season, conceding just 45 goals in 46 Championship matches. And the fact Cannon played in 33 of Boavista's 34 games in the Liga NOS last season just shows how reliable he is, which is much-needed in a gruelling second-tier season.
It would seem like a strange move though with Jordi Osei-Tutu arriving on loan from Arsenal last week, unless the wanted Jordan Gabriel secures a permanent move away.
This is a possibility - so the move for Cannon is a possibility but they should only recruit him if Gabriel leaves, with the left-back situation and the need for a striker needing to be higher up on Chris Hughton's side's transfer agenda.

It's no surprise to see an American linked with Forest due to the Dane Murphy factor as CEO - he was crucial to Barnsley securing Daryl Dike last season and look how that worked out.
Whilst Dike was a relative unknown in Europe though, Cannon has a bit more experience having made the journey over from the MLS last year to join Boavista in Portugal, and he has experience of being a first-team regular in the country's top division.
Cannon wasn't a cheap purchase at just over £2.5 million, and you'd imagine that Boavista would want to recoup or make some money on the 23-year-old if they were to sell, so it's a case of whether or not Forest desperately need a right-back.
And they do if they're going to let Jordan Gabriel leave then another right-back will definitely be needed - Jordi Osei-Tutu has of course just been signed on loan from Arsenal recently but he can also cover at left-back and you really need two decent players for every position as a Championship club.
Despite being a relative youngster, Cannon would provide some international experience and would be a worthy investment for Forest.
