Steve McClaren was sacked as Queens Park Rangers boss two weeks ago now and the club are yet to make a decision on who will replace him

One win in 11 was enough for the board to act, with John Eustace taking temporary charge of proceedings at Loftus Road, but one name was eliminated from proceedings on Friday.

According to West London Sport, the Rs have decided to rule out the appointment of former Stoke City and Derby County boss Gary Rowett.

Whilst he was on the initial shortlist, the likes of Tim Sherwood, Michael Appleton and Mark Warburton are all more desirable appointments.

So is this the right decision from QPR?

We discuss...

Jacob Potter

"I think they might have made a mistake here.

"Rowett has proven experience in the Championship and I think he had a point to prove after difficult spells at various clubs in recent years.

"He surely would have been worth a punt wouldn't he?

"I think this decision could prove costly as they battle against relegation this season."

Toby Wilding

“This makes sense.

“Rowett didn’t exactly cover himself in glory when he was tasked with lifting Stoke following relegation from the Premier League at the end of last season.

“It is hard to see him having done the same in such a short, and pressurised space of time at Loftus Road, with his time at the bet365 clearly doing him no favours.”

Louie Chandler

"A wise move.

"Rowett could still prove to be a competent Championship manager but the last thing QPR need right now is to take a risk.

"However, the prospect of appointing Sherwood is probably even more bizarre than the move for Rowett."
