There's just a week to go until the craziest day of the football calendar kicks off, the summer transfer deadline day.

Across the country teams will finally be forced to act, overpaying for players they might never intend to buy in a panic, or carefully bringing together a cleverly constructed recruitment policy.

It's earlier this season, meaning clubs have had to act faster through the summer, but there's barely a side in the Football League that won't want at least one more new face. At this point it will be a case of picking over another man's trash to find your own treasure.

Reading will still be wanting to add bodies, not least because of the loss of George Evans to Derby recently. There's also a question over the future of Liam Moore, meaning a possible new face at the back as well.

As Paul Clement finalises his squad, here are some deals we feel he should tie up before the final deadline approaches.

With Liam Moore looking increasingly likely to depart the Madejski, Reading will want to bring in a fresh centre back.

23-year old Hause would be the perfect player, he's not likely to get game time at Molineux this season, but he is ready for Championship football. A loan deal might suit both parties, meaning no big outlay for the Royals.

Ojo is set for a Championship move, be it on loan or maybe permanently. earlier in the summer, Reading were linked with a swoop for the Liverpool man and they should get back on that as soon as possible.

Ojo got promoted with Fulham last year and his creativity would be a huge boost to Paul Clement in the coming weeks and months.

Elphick is surplus to requirements at Villa and if the Royals want a permanent player to fill the centre half role, they should look no further.

He's uncomplicated but reliable and wouldn't cost the earth either. If there's a deal to be had, then it makes sense to rescue him from his Villa torment and set him free in the Reading defence.
