Norwich City are enduring a poor second season in the Championship, with new boss Daniel Farke struggling to find the right formula to guide his side to a top-six finish.

Way behind the pack in mid-table, it will take a massive turnaround if the Canaries are to take part in the end of season playoffs, and progress towards this goal will begin when the transfer window opens for business.

Farke will know that changes are needed in the new year, and signings are needed to bolster his lacklustre squad.

The German boss was busy in the summer, spending in order to build a squad he felt capable of achieving promotion, and could repeat his antics in the January window.

A couple of faces may have to be moved on to make space in the squad and free up the wage budget, and this pair could be at risk of the Carrow Road boot…

Steven Naismith

The Scottish international is certain to occupy a significant chunk of the wage budget at Carrow Road, and could be on the way out after failing to impress Farke this year.

Having made just two league appearances from a possible twenty-three, it is clear the player just isn’t up to the German’s perceived standard, and it is likely a potential buyer will be sounded out in the new year.

The 31-year-old has enjoyed a successful career in both England and Scotland, and could return to his homeland following his adventure south of the border.

Former club Rangers would surely welcome the player back to Ibrox and Naismith could perform to a high level in the SPL, and this seems a likely deal.

Russell Martin

The 31-year-old is a long-serving Canaries man, having been with the club for almost eight years following his arrival in 2010 from Peterborough United.

The player has failed to break into the first-team on a regular basis however, and could make the brave decision in the new year to call time on his Norwich City career.

Martin has played just five times in the league this year, and many Norwich fans would argue that player is severely underutilised by Farke.

Martin has consistently been one of the Canaries better players for many years, yet despite their struggles, Farke has failed to place his trust in the experienced defender.

The player is likely to see out the season at Carrow Road, but could be tempted by a January move should the right offer materialise.
