Things aren’t looking good for Birmingham City in the Sky Bet Championship, with the Blues failing to have the impact that many expected them to following a busy summer of transfer activity.

The Blues are facing up to the possibility of another fight for survival this season, with Steve Cotterill struggling to inspire his squad following his appointment as Harry Redknapp’s successor at St Andrew’s.

January is shaping up to be a vital month for the Blues, and a transfer window that they simply have to get right if they are to pull themselves clear of danger.

Additions will be essential for Birmingham, and with the current squad simply not cutting it, departures could also be on the agenda.

It is unclear who will oversee the January transfer window, with constant speculation surrounding Cotterill’s future.

However, here is a look at TWO players who could be axed at St Andrew’s in early 2018…

Sam Gallagher

Birmingham moved to sign Gallagher on-loan during the summer transfer window, but the striker has failed to impress during his time in the Midlands.

The 22-year-old has bags of potential, but he has been one of the reasons behind Birmingham’s troubles in front of goal, with the Southampton man not finding the net often enough.

The Blues could look to terminate his loan deal to free up space for another addition.

Nicolai Brock-Madsen

Brock-Madsen is nowhere near Birmingham’s starting XI, and another striker not offering enough to solve the club’s ongoing problems in attack.

Birmingham are struggling for goals, and with reinforcements needed, some will have to be sacrificed.

It would be a surprise to see the 24-year-old still at St Andrew’s in February.
