Bolton Wanderers aren’t sitting in the best position heading into the New Year, with it looking likely that the second-half of the current season is going to be massive for the Trotters.

The club did extremely well to survive last season on their return to the Championship, but this year it looks like it’ll be even harder and they have to start 2019 well.

An encouraging start to the season feels a long time ago and Bolton are in the dogfight now at the wrong end of the table.

Some of their rivals will have money to spend in January and it is unlikely that the powers above at Bolton will be throwing money at the team to keep them in the Championship.

There’s going to have to be some shrewd business, and here at FLW, we identify TWO players that the club should look to get on board early in the window…

The Leeds full-back is on loan with Fleetwood, but he will return to Elland Road in early 2019.

Another loan move is likely and Leeds might want to see how Coyle manages Championship football.

A move to Bolton could be good for all parties.

A little bit of class in midfield wouldn’t go amiss and Butterfield could bring that.

He’s had a tough 18 months but stepping into a side lower in the league, he could thrive.

It’d be a good addition.
