Leeds United have officially confirmed that 21-year-old Madger Gomes has agreed a switch from Elland Road to French outfit FC Sochaux.

Have the Whites let Gomes go too early? Should he have been given a chance to impress in the first team?

We discuss...

Chris Gallagher

It seems the right move.

At 21-years old, Gomes should be looking to play regularly and that's not going to happen at Leeds.

He was a long way from the first-team and it's better for all parties that he has now left for France.

George Dagless

I thought we'd see more of him at Leeds.

He was obviously at Liverpool and it looked as though the Whites would provide him the chance to really kick his career on.

Instead, though, he's moving on already and I think there'll be a slight sense of what could have been with him.

It is, however, for the best.

Alfie Burns

His spell at Elland Road has been a waste of time for everyone involved.

Gomes can’t have learnt much from a couple of Carabao Cup appearances, whilst Leeds haven’t benefitted from the midfielder’s quality.

A move this summer seems to be a sensible option for all parties.

Jay Williams

Gomes did not look first-team ready and at the age of 21, it is probably in his best interests to leave and kick-start his career elsewhere.

Leeds have plenty of options in central midfield and will not miss the youngster.

They will be hoping that they received a fee from Sochaux, considering he had two years left to run on the three-year deal he signed last summer, but with just two senior games under his belt (both in the EFL Cup), he did not make the desired impact Leeds fans would have hoped for.
