Manager-less Middlesbrough need to get somebody into their hot-seat soon, with pre-season under a month away and with incoming and out-going transfer business needing to be concluded.

One player who is being linked with a Boro exit is 21-year-old centre-back Dael Fry, who enjoyed an impressive season under Tony Pulis.

Burnley are targeting a move for the promising defender, according to the Daily Mail, though whether Boro will be willing to let him leave remains to be seen.

So would Fry be a good signing for Burnley?

We discuss........

Kealan Hughes

"This is the perfect type of signing for Burnley. The last defender they signed from Middlesbrough hasn't worked out for them yet in Ben Gibson, but Fry is young and offers long-term value.

"He's had a very impressive season and the fact Liverpool are rumoured to be interest shows the talent he has.

"If Sean Dyche can help him adjust to the Premier League he could come into the side straight away, he needs game time to develop and Burnley would be a great place to get that."

Ben Lang

"This would be a very impressive signing if Burnley pull it off.

"I think a number of clubs will be chasing Fry this summer and it would be a statement of intent for Burnley to secure his services.

"Boro would prefer Fry to stay, so they must get a new manager appointed as soon as possible to convince the defender of the club's ambition."

Louie Chandler

"A very Burnley signing.

"Sean Dyche is clearly a huge fan of English centre-backs and you would imagine he would get a chance to shine at Turf Moore.

"Although it has not worked out too well for Ben Gibson so it is a move that Fry should approach with a bit of caution."

Toby Wilding

"I think this could be a good signing.

"Fry is still young, but has already shown plenty of potential, which could be exploited further by his experiences alongside some of Burnley's more established midfielders.

"The chance to play in the Premier League will also surely be tempting for Fry."

Gary Hutchinson

“He’d be a decent signing, but I think there are better available.

“If he does go to the top flight you’d think Burnley would be a good move.

“Fry will do well to look at Ben Gibson though.

“He was a big money buy at Turf Moor and look what happened to him.”
