Wigan Athletic has emerged as a possible destination for former Rangers skipper Lee Wallace who has fallen down the pecking order at the Glasgow giants under Steven Gerrard, according to Alan Nixon in The Sunday Sun (07/10, page 60).

The 31-year-old former skipper was fined and suspended by the club after a dressing room bust-up back in April and following Gerrard's signing of Jon Flanagan and Borna Barisic in the summer, Wallace's days at Ibrox look numbered.

But would Wallace prove a good signing for Wigan?

We discuss.....

Jay Taylor

He would give them experience but has no knowledge of the Championship.

Having played his entire career north of the border, he finds himself out of favour at Ibrox and could be seeking a move away.

It would be a decent signing by way of back-up but I don’t see it being much more than that.

Gary Hutchinson

I’ve always liked Wallace, as much as I’ve seen of him in Scottish football, so there’s no reason why I’d say no to this.

Sure, he’s 31 and isn’t going to revolutionise their approach.

He would be solid, dependable and they’d know exactly what they were getting.

Sometimes, that is enough.

A useful signing.

George Harbey

Wallace has been a solid figure for Rangers over the years, and at 31, he arguably still has a lot to offer.

He could be a solid addition for Paul Cook’s men.

Jacob Potter

Having made just one start this season for Steven Gerrard’s side, he clearly isn’t part of his plans this season and will be hopeful of a move elsewhere.

Wigan would be an ideal destination for the defender and he would be confident of tightening up a Wigan defence that has already conceded 16 goals this season.
