Leeds United are not looking to start contract talks with teenage starlet Jack Clarke despite his emergence into the first-team this season.

The talented winger has impressed Marcelo Bielsa, with the Argentinian involving the 18-year-old with the senior squad since taking over.

And, Clarke has repaid that faith shown in him, making some decisive contributions when given a chance - including the assist as Leeds beat rivals Sheffield United last time out.

Yet, Football Insider claim that the Whites are stalling on offering a new deal to the player even though his representatives want talks.

They add that this has alerted several top-flight clubs who are now weighing up whether to move for the youngster, with Manchester City having been previously linked with Clarke.

His current deal expires until 2021 which may explain why Leeds are reluctant to offer a new deal, although Clarke will feel it's a reward for how he has progressed.

So, are Leeds taking a big risk here? Our writers take a look...

It’s a real shock. What on earth are Leeds doing?

Clarke has looked excellent and could be a future star.

The Whites are taking a big risk here, they need to get him tied down to fresh terms.

Jacob Potter

It's a truly astonishing decision.

I have absolutely no idea why they are stalling on a new deal for Clarke, who has been excellent in his cameo appearances for Leeds this season.

Chelsea and Manchester City are rumoured to be interested for him, Leeds should be offering him a new deal as quickly as possible to secure his long-term future.

Chris Gallagher

This is remarkable if true.

Leeds have a quality young player who deserves a new deal due to his performances.

The club should be doing all they can to convince him his future lies at Elland Road given the sort of clubs he is attracting interest from.

A new deal should've been sorted a long time ago.
